 USEFUL KITCHEN TIPS AND HACKS

1} Crystal salt into fine powder salt






  • First Heat crystal salt on a low flame and roast it lightly. 
  • Switch off the flame after heating. 
  • Allow it to cool.
  • Now grind it in smooth powder.
Super Fine Powder Salt is ready 

Note: No need to roast it in high flame, 
Only 2mins is enough for heating.


2} Saving Excess Dal Water






  • In a cooker add dal and pour a little more water so that dal will cook smoothly. 
  • Now if we add more water excess water will come out.
  •  So to avoid that we should place one small bowl inside the cooker and close it 
  • Pressure cook for 5 or 6 whistles.
  • Now all excess water will go inside the bowl and will not come out 
  • In this way, we can save excess water. which we can use for sambar or rasam.

Note: This excess water will be very tasty when using it for rasam.,


3} Shortcut way to soak any kind of Chana.





  • Take a casserole  and pour the required hot water
  • Add required black chana.
  • Close it for 30mins.
  • After 30mins when you open it, all chanas will get soaked.
  • So this is an easy method to soak chana. 
  •  Time-consuming Tip.


4} Avoid bad smell in the flask




  • Whenever we open the flask, there will be a bad smell.
  • So after taking the flask, wipe it thoroughly.
  • Add 1tbspn white sugar into the flask.
  • Close it and store it.
  • Next time when you open it to use you won't have any bad smell.



5} Easy method of peeling a pomegranate


 



  • Take a fresh pomegranate 
  • Cut the pomegranate with a knife 
  • Remove the middle part.
  • Try not to cut into deep.
  • Get pomegranate into palm.
  • Hold with your hands.
  • Keep one large bowl below your hand  and tap the upper position with wooden or steel 
  •  spatula.
  • When you hold the pomegranate and tap it, it will not flow outside.
  • It will fell inside the bowl.
  • Tap the pomegranate continuously until all the seeds fell into the bowl

  • This method will be very useful for all ladies.
  • Best time-consuming tip.


6} How to keep fresh tomatoes in the fridge for a long time.





  • After buying the fresh tomatoes from the market, wash them nicely and wipe them immediately.
  • Then place all fresh tomatoes upside down in a large bowl and keep them in the refrigerator.
  • while keeping upside down all the tomatoes will be fresh for a long time.



7} How to remove  Seppan Kizhangu skin easily 



  • First Pressure cook the seppan kizhangu for only 1 whistle
  • After Pressure goes remove the cooker lid 
  • Drain out the hot water immediately and fill normal water 
  • Rest for 5mins 
  • Now you can peel the skin very easily. 


Note: If we wont drain the hot water immediately then potato will get over boiled and cant remove the skin easily. 



8}How to keep Drumstick fresh for a long time in the fridge





  • Cut all the drumsticks into small pieces.
  • Cut the edges also
  • Now store all small piece drumsticks in a storage bag or storage box.
  • Keep it in the fridge
  • If we keep like this then our all drumsticks will be fresh for a long time in the fridge


9}How to peel small onion(shallots) and garlic skin easily

 



  • Soak shallots or garlic in a bowl for 10 mins
  • Then after 10mins remove the skin of shallots or garlic, 
  • we can easily remove it. 
  • This tip is very useful for working women who have less time to spend in the kitchen. 




10}How to keep Curry leaves fresh in the fridge

Remove the leaves from the stem
Take a storage box
Place a tissue paper in the storage box first
Then place all leaves in that box
Now close it with another tissue paper.
And close it with a storage box lid. 

Note: If we keep the curry leaves above tissue paper, it will absorb all water from the leaves and allows them to remain fresh for a long time. 




11}How to avoid insects in Masoor Dal 




  • First after buying dal from the market immediately transfer it to a Kadai.
  • Slightly dry roast the dal for a few mins.
  • Allow it to cool for a while
  • Then store it in a storage container.

Note: If we dry roast the dal and store then any kind of insects will not come and our dal will remain fresh for a long time. 



12} How to keep green chillis fresh in the fridge






After buying green chillies from the market.
Wash it nicely and remove it to the upper stem first.
Now keep tissue paper in a storage box.
Place all green chillies in that box and cover it with tissue paper again.
So all green chillies will remain fresh if we store them like this. 

Note: We can use this tip for coriander leaves also.





13} How to avoid flying insects in tamarind










  • Before keeping all tamarinds inside the storage box.
  • Place 4 or 5 cloves into the storage box.
  • Now place all the tamarind in that box.
Note: If we keep cloves inside the tamarind, flying insects will not come. we can keep tamarind fresh for a long time. 








14}How to avoid insects in chana dal 





  • After storing chana dal in a storage container, put two pieces of bay leaf[briyani leaf]inside the container 
  • In this way, we can avoid insects and chana dal will be fresh for a long time. 
Note: You can follow the same tip for all types of chana dal. 





15}How to keep biscuits  fresh and crispy for a long time







After buying biscuits from the shop, transfer them to storage(airtight) container.
Now add white sugar one teaspoon inside the container. 
White sugar helps to maintain the crispy and crunchy.


Note : You can follow this tip for any kind of biscuits and cookies.
