 Vazhakkai Roast Recipe| Valakkai Varuvel Recipe| Raw Banana Roast| Raw Banana Fry| 







Vazhakkai roast /valakkai varuvel is the most favourite recipe in my home. Vazhakkai is very good for health. Valakkai/vazhakkai or raw banana is a very famous vegetable in the south side. Raw banana is very high in protein so I use to make this valakkai roast and give it as a snack to my kids weekly. 


This Valakkai roast can be eaten as a snack or side dish for rasam, sambar rice or even curd rice. 

Valakkai roast will also go with Lemon rice and curd rice. This recipe will be very easy to make for a lunch box. We can store the masala powder which i used in this recipe in the refrigerator also.

INGREDIENTS 


  •    Valakkai  – 1
  •    Lemon Juice – 2tsp
  •   Turmeric powder-1ts
  •   Salt as required
  •   Ginger garlic Paste-1tsp

 

 

For Masala Powder

   Raw rice powder-4tbsp

·       Cumin powder-1/2tsp

·       Coriander powder-1tbsp

·       Chilli powder-1tbsp

·       Hing – 1/2tsp

·      Garam Masala-1/2tsp

       Salt as required

·      Oil for fry


















          Method 


  • Wash the banana nicely and peel the skin.
  • Cut off the ends and dispose
  • Slice the banana equally in an oval shape which will look nice for a roast.
  • Cut it in a half centimetre which should not be too thick or too thin.
  • Squeeze the lemon in sliced raw banana
  • Add turmeric powder
  • Add salt 
  • Mix well and keep it side 
  • Take a bowl or a plate and add raw rice powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, chilli powder.
  • Combine well
  • Coat the sliced raw banana in masala powder
  • keeps it side.
  • Take a Frypan.
  • Heat oil
  • Shallow fry all the raw banana(valakkai)
  • Valakkai (raw banana) roast is ready to serve. 
It tastes excellent when serving with rasam, sambar, lemon rice or curd rice. 



Pictorial


Take a Fresh banana 

Cut the two edges and dispose.

Peel the skin 

Slice it like a oval shape. 



Put all sliced raw banana in a bowl


Squeeze the lemon juice on it

Salt as required. 


Add Turmeric powder

Add Ginger garlic paste 

Combine well 

In a separate plate or bowl add all  dry ingredients (spice powder) and mix well.

Coat the sliced valakkai (raw banana) in masala powder. 


Shallow fry the coated raw banana

Fry until golden brown 

Valakkai roast ready to serve 😋
